In its truest form, education is a process in which the mind grows, evolves and adopts a better understanding of the surrounding environments and its constructs.
Teaming up with Eastmen Collective, painter Brian Kirhagis seeks to return education to its purest form. Kirhagis is by no means a prophet, a sage or a savior—but he is a conversationalist.
FAFSA: Fundamental Art for Fixing Society’s Ailments is meant to spark a dialogue, one that is of communal and sociopolitical significance. Curated by P.F. Dash of Eastmen Collective, the new body of work addresses “society’s ailments” through an alluring amalgam of colors and symbols. The audience, greeted with the visages of Father Time and Uncle Sam, are spurred to reexamine and reevaluate the very fabric of history itself. It also encourages us not to fall asleep at the loom.
We stopped by Lyons Wier Gallery where the exhibition enjoyed a brief but blissful week-long stint. We spoke to Kirhagis about the concept behind the show and we also caught up curator P.F. Dash who revealed that FAFSA is a three part series, Orientation being the inaugural installment.
