Quiet Lunch headed to the annual HBO New York International Latino Film Festival for the premiere of Lemon, a documentary about the Tony Award Winning poet, Lemon Andersen.

The tale of Lemon Andersen is a prolific one. Born and raised on the streets of Brooklyn, Andersen is a three time felon who has endured hardships through his undying love of the spoken word. Produced by Russell Simmons, directed by Laura Brownson and Beth Levison, the film documents Andersen path to redemption and self-actualization.

Dressing in our best rags,  Quiet Lunch hit the red carpet to have a few words with Lemon Andersen and his throng friends who came by to support the film. Most of us, including Andersen, were seeing the film for the first time and did not know what to expect, nonetheless we chopped it up about the significance of the film and what it means to them.

The film will be showcased in major US cities with special event-based theatrical screenings and released on DVD and VOD platforms October 16, 2012 with a broadcast premiere on PBS as part of Latino Public Broadcasting’s arts and culture series VOCES on Friday October 19, 2012 in conjunction with Hispanic Heritage Month.
