M.I.A’s middle finger “snafu” at this year’s Super Bowl should have been clearly overshadowed by Madge’s latest stunt in Istanbul. But, fortunately for the Material Girl, her nipple flashing incident was months later — which equals years in pop culture time — and was conducted on a far less greater stage.
Then again, much like the Super Bowl bird flip, this nipple slip reeks of desperation. Nonetheless, a number of publications — including ours — are still giving it the attention it so rightfully deserves. The 53 year-old singer’s album isn’t exactly doing its best and her 80-date tour is the perfect stage to breath some life into MDNA with some good old controversy. Or is Madonna just being the Madonna we always knew?
Just before the Istanbul “slip”, Madonna kicked off the MDNA tour in Tel Aviv by displaying an image of Marine Le Pen — resident of France’s right-wing National Front party — with a swastika across her forehead.
