We finally pulled ourselves away from our stations and headed over to Team Gallery to check out Ryan McGinley‘s Animals exhibit, an event that we’ve been anticipating all week long.
The series included nude subjects accompanied by various furry, feathery, and overall scrappy companions. Also running parallel to Grids — which we haven’t seen — Animals will be running through June 2nd.
McGinley, an accomplished photographer from Ramsey, NJ, meshes human fragility with unintentional — and in some cases, intentional — roughness.
McGinley also uses the series to meld the opposing nature of both subjects, making it difficult for the audience to determine who exactly posing with who. Normally, we human beings tend to forget that we are in fact animals ourselves. In this series, the human subjects seem one with their wily costars.
