Share This.Furniture or optical illusion? The Liquid Glacial Table by Zaha Hadid looks to be both. Made from polished plexiglass, the Liquid Glacial Table gives the appearance of funneling water that has been frozen in place. It is a stark contrast to the usual structural appearance of a table.

Share This.Usually an idle tree branch is used for a nature walk or an impromptu sword fight, but Studio Floris Wubben had a even clever and even more ingenious idea. Stripped is made out of one branch only, which is split into three parts beneath–which makes the legs. The bark is then almost entirely peeled from the branch and, with a rotating movement, formed into a lamp-shade. Although this may sound Read More

Share This.Living quarters can be small in the big city. With the population often being as dense as a year old fruitcake, there isn’t much space to go around. As a result, those who live in a big city are forced to become shrewd space-saving savages, hellbent on properly utilizing every square foot. But out of that shrewdness comes the Living Cube, a fully functional article of furniture that can Read More

Share This. The Babel Lamp by MID (Manifattura Italiana Design) is an interactive work of household art. Utilizing the concept of organic architecture, the Babel Lamp leaves itself open to the user’s interpretation. We have affectionately, and inaccurately, begun referring to it as the Jenga Lamp due to its resemblance to the classic puzzle game.

Share This.Let’s face it, education in the States isn’t what it used to be–and we’re not referring to the curriculum, we’re referring to the furnishing. Long ago, when the Soviet Union was a superpower and Morgan Freeman played a pimp, school chairs (and desks) were wooden canvases. You could doodle anything you could come with: Superman, Batman, a giant penis, Superman and Batman fighting a giant penis. But, with the Read More
