With the pace of technological innovation becoming speedier by the minute, there are a species of endangered traditions that die off everyday. These tradition either become tedious, unprofitable or simply out-of-date and walk solemnly off into the sunset; never to be seen or heard from again.

But what seems like a death may actually be a hibernation — for there are still those who are attempting to keep the tradition alive. The folks at Etsy take time to speak to Korehira Watanabe, one of Japan’s last remaining swordsmiths.
