The Zombie Men Cometh.

After our brief interview with the RZA, we didn’t think the night could truly get any better. Little did we know, the Flatbush Zombies would readily grace our cameras after a monstrously ill performance that left the stage smoking.

The gang was surprisingly subdued, nowhere near as raucous as they were on stage but still maintaining an easygoing joviality that makes them an intriguing bunch to be around. The raw energy still lingered in the air and there we were with one of most promising groups in hip-hop.  Their mixtape, D.R.U.G.S., was one of the best tapes of the summer and their appearance on “Bath Salts” all but outshined the likes of Harlemite A$AP Rocky. A part of what we affectionately refer to as New York’s New School Collective, the Flatbush Zombies are rising stars in a wave of fresh faced emcees who are hellbent on resurrecting raw lyricism.

Consisting of members Meechy Darko, Zombie Juice, and Erick Ark Elliott, the trio reminds us an awful lot of a Tribe Called Quest. Meech seems to be the most level headed while Juice serves as the live wire and Erick Arc Elliott operates as the silent mastermind. Altogether they are an organic mixture of dope beats, recklessness and, conscious lyricism.
