Gerrel Saunders‘ latest series, CROWN, addresses the concept of “good hair” and texture politics within the Black community. Women—especially women of color—are constantly engaged in said politics and Saunders (who also goes by Gaks) seeks to help remedy that conflict by promoting a message of inclusion, healthy self esteem and all around appreciation. With CROWN, all hair is beautiful—whether it be kinky, wavy or straight.
