It’s being reported that America has more craft beer breweries today than at any other point since 1887. A new term that was just added to the Merriam-Webster dictionary this year, even President Obama has his own brew.

According to the Brewer’s Association, the number of breweries is increasing dramatically in just a year. Among these breweries, 97 percent are “craft brewers“ — meaning they are relatively low-production, independently owned, and “interpret historic styles with unique twists and develop new styles that have no precedent.”

California obviously runs away with the whole thing, housing around 261 breweries. Washington comes in a distant second at 134 while Colorado comes in third with 127, Oregon takes a close fourth with 121, and Michigan rounds out the top five with 102. Read more → here ←.
