Getting to Know Vino with Sean Raymond.

Like in many craft industries, in the world of fine wine, there are certified specialists. For le vin, they are sommeliers. A sommelier, (pronounced /ˌsəməlˈyā/) or commonly referred to as a wine steward, is a trained wine professional, who normally works in fine restaurants and specializes in all aspects of wine service, including food pairing. Unlike a wine waiter, this role is far more specialized. Last month, we were invited to a lesson with newly certified sommelier, Sean Raymond, on how to match wines with desserts.

Sponsored by Midland Wine and Liquor and TLC Affairs, and hosted by the plush bar/lounge, Ruby Falls located in Staten Island New York, Sean educated eager wine enthusiasts on the importance of balancing the right wines with various desserts  based on the level of sweetness. The crowd was very attentive and were treated to scrumptious cupcakes from Made from Scratch, which were paired up exquisite libations.  DJ MVP also served up a great vibe of classics tunes that kept everyone in a festive mood.
