    SHADOWS OF OAK & SYCAMORE

    Stretch across the Hudson River
    As far as North Dakota

    What kind of bridge is this?
    Part of it underwater
    Most of it spray painted black

    Look A rowboat Appears on the river
    It’s Miss Marianne Moore whipping brown water
    With a matched set of polished oars
    Hewn Chiseled Carved from twin French doors

    “Please You are only a sundial
    Now go back home Right this instant
    Quit pestering us good folks Thank you
    We are here to harpoon some light
    It’s the 4th of July all day”
