After ‘oohing’ and ‘ahhing’ over the Balloon Lamp we featured last issue, we were happy to stumble upon this 2002 installation by William Forsythe. Titled, Scattered Crowd, the installation involves an insane number of balloons and engulfing audio. Scattered Crowd directly relates to relationship, humans, distance, and emptiness.
“In the gorgeous, breathless space that is choreographer William Forsythes «Scattered Crowd», the viewer inhabits and alters, through their stillness or speed, their sense of proportion and time, the configurations that make up this constantly shifting, ecstatic world.”
